Actress Meryl Streep is in talks to play Baroness Thatcher in a movie based on the former British prime minister”s life.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the biopic titled “Thatcher” will focus on the period immediately prior to the Falklands war.
The film”s producers are also said to be lining up British actor Jim Broadbent to play Lady Thatcher”s husband Denis in the movie, reports the Telegraph.
The film is a joint venture of Pathe and BBC Films and will be directed by British director Phyllida Lloyd.

Hollywood legend Meryl Streep has revealed that sleeping through her law entrance landed her in showbiz.
The acclaimed star, who has 16 Academy Award nods, winning two, and 25 Golden Globe nominations, winning seven, to her credit, revealed she did not intend to pursue acting full time and wanted to pursue a legal career, Showbizspy.com reported.
“I loved it, but I thought it was frivolous,” the Daily Telegraph quoted the Oscar winner as saying.
“I remember thinking, ”OK this is stupid. Oh yeah, you’re going to be an actress, sure. I”m going to do something serious with my life. I’m going to be an environmental lawyer”.
“Then I slept through the law school admission test, so I took it as a sign from heaven to stay in drama school,” she added.
Meryl Streep and Gerard Butler are among the Hollywood stars donating their outfits worn at the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards for Haiti Relief.
The outfits will be auctioned off by Artists for Peace and Justice to help the people of Haiti after the devastating earthquake, reports the Daily Star.
Josh Brolin, Amy Poehler and House”s Olivia Wilde are also donating their awards show clothes.
The auction will start on Ebay.com next week.
Hollywood icon Meryl Streep used to pad her bra to catch the eye of casting directors and land film roles.
The double Oscar-winner further explained that her boosting actions didn”t go unnoticed as her fake curves persuaded late movie maker Sydney Pollack to cast her in critically acclaimed Out of Africa, reports Contactmusic.
She said: “I have cheated to get a part. The first time I was on Broadway years ago. Before the audition I filled my 32DD bra cups with paper towels.
“I got the part! I did it again to Sydney Pollack for Out of Africa. I’d heard he didn’t think I was sexy enough so I filled them up again,” she added.
Legendary actress Meryl Streep has received a special gift for her 60th birthday – an honorary degree from America’s Princeton university.
The ‘Mama Mia’ star, who turns 60 on Monday June 22 (09), received the honour on the revered college”s 262nd Commencement.
Streep now joins the list of non-students honored by the college that includes actress and civil rights activist Ruby Dee Davis and chef Alice Waters, Contactmusic reports.
The actress had passed out Vassar College in 1971 and studied drama at Yale University, according to imdb.com.
