Supermodel Heidi Klum has claimed that she belongs to an aristocratic family. The German supermodel, actress, TV presenter, fashion designer, television producer and singer recently revealed that her family sold their title of ‘von Klum’ owing to their broke circumstances. “We used to be very rich and then we got very poor and we sold our title, which was von Klum,” the New York Daily News quoted Klum, as telling Webster Hall’s Baird Jones at the 401 Projects Gallery exhibit of Magnum photos. “I would have been Baroness von Klum,” Heidi added. Sensual Bollywood actress and former Ford supermodel (1996), Bipasha Basu, will co-host an international event at which the New 7 Wonders of the World will be declared in Lisbon, Portugal on July 7, 2007. No one, including Bipasha, is quiet sure why she has been picked up for the rare honor but Bipasha is thrilled that she will be rubbing shoulders with other international celebrity co-hosts such as Hilary Swank and Ben Kingsley. Bipasha has already started preparing for the event that will boast performances by Jennifer Lopez, Dulce Pontes, Chaka Khan and other luminaries, in the presence of Astronaut Neil Armstrong and many world celebrities including Frederico Mayor, the president of the New 7 Wonders panel of experts and former Director General of UNESCO. The event will boast of one of the largest stage and back stage areas in the world, with more than 600 specialists from 10 countries working as a team to make the show a grand success. Millions of Indians have campaigned for the inclusion of the Taj Mahal in the list of New 7 Wonders of the World. Ace composer A R Rahman created a special song for the campaign encouraging millions around the world to cast their vote for the Taj Mahal. Bipasha is the winner of the Ford Supermodel of the World (contest) and now works in mainstream Bollywood films. Her first name means “Deep, dark desire.” Bipasha is continually listed as one of Asia’s sexiest women, along with fellow stars Mallika Sherawat and Aishwarya Rai.Bipasha has steadily climbed the ladder of success ever since she entered Bollywood with Ajnabee in 2001. However, it was the film Jism (2003), with present boyfriend John Abraham, that catapulted her to stardom. She played the seductive Sonia Khanna to the hilt using her supermodel curves, mesmerizing eyes and dusky skin tone to devastating effect. The image of Bipasha, emerging from the ocean in Pondicherry in the film, left an indelible impression on the minds of her fans. With every movie since then Bipasha has reinvented herself as the actress and proved she can do diverse roles and electrify her fans with her sensuality. Her ‘Bidi Jalai Le’ role in Omkara (2006) is a recent example. In 2005, Bipasha had a boundary-pushing role in the successful film No Entry. She later appeared in the 2006 film Phir Hera Pheri, which did well at the box office. Bipasha was the female lead in Corporate, she received much acclaim for her performance.Dhoom 2 is her latest release with Yash Raj Films, which was a huge hit overseas and in India.Bipasha has also appeared in music videos, such as Tu Kab Ye Janegi… for Sonu Nigam’s album, Kismat and in Jay Sean’s Stolen.Responding to her forthcoming assignment in Bombay Times, Bips jokes that she earlier hesitated from hosting shows because of her short sightedness and inability to read the tele prompter. “History beckons me,” she says joyfully, “I have been given the honor of hosting the official declaration ceremony for the New 7 Wonder of the World in Lisbon on July 7. So I’ve got myself contact lenses…I’d be foolish not to correct my eyesight. I can see everything so clearly now!” Bipasha is aware that this is not only a unique honor for her but also for Bollywood and for India and she is not sparing any effort to make the best impression. Bipasha’s wardrobe for the event will comprise an Indian outfit – probably a saree – designed by Rocky S and a Western outfit designed by Armani. “To be part of this event is to be part of history,” Bipasha says, “And I wouldn’t miss it for anything in the world.”
The story of the mercurial newspaper tycoon — written, directed and produced by Welles when he was just 25 — was followed by Francis Ford Coppola’s 1972 gangster epic “The Godfather” in second place, and another black and white 1940s classic, “Casablanca” in third. The institute’s 10-yearly list of the 100 greatest movies of all time is determined by a jury of 1,500 film artists, critics and historians. “Kane” had topped the original league in 1997 too. Martin Scorsese’s boxing drama “Raging Bull” and Alfred Hitchock’s “Vertigo” made the institute’s top 10 for the first time. Since the first poll was published 10 years ago, films on the list that were made included Peter Jackson’s “Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring.” The complete list of 100 movies was published on the website of the institute, a national film industry education and heritage body.

The Big B has demanded a change in his wardrobe and hairdo, only for his wax dummy at Madame Tussauds in London.
“Amitabh Bachchan is a phenomenon and that is why we made him a part of Madame Tussauds. He visited us recently and wanted an updated wax figure because he now sports a different look and wardrobe,” says Ben Lovett, spokesperson of Madame Tussauds. There are four wax figures of Indian origin at the museum.
Mahatma Gandhi was the first, followed by Big B, then Aishwarya and Shah Rukh Khan.
“We waxed the Mahatma because he impacted the world history, Big B came in because of his persona, Ash for her worldwide popularity and Shah Rukh Khan because we received thousands of fan requests,” says Ben Lovett.
It takes about four months to make one wax figure. About five hours are spent with the celebrity whose wax figure is being. “For us, making Ash’s wax figure was the most difficult as she is flawless,” adds Ben. Will we see Big Brother winner Shilpa Shetty at the museum soon? “We will not come out with a new wax figure till mid-2008 . But if the Indian presence increases, the people will be drawn from the fields of entertainment and cricket. That’s because Britain loves them.”
