Madonna”s divorce and the credit crisis may have been caused by narcissism, according to a leading expert.
The term narcissism means love of oneself, and refers to the set of character traits concerned with self-admiration, self-centeredness and self-regard.
According to Simon Crompton, everyone have narcissistic traits, but they”re so strong in some people that it can cause problems in relationships, reports TimesOnline.
Crompton is the author of ‘All About Me: Loving a Narcissist’.
Previous studies have also shown that narcissism seems to be responsible for many people”s success in business, celebrity and the performing arts.
A recently published study has shown that people rated high on narcisstic traits are more likely to push themselves forward as leaders in business
A separate study from the University of Surrey found that narcissistic traits were stronger in high- level business executives than in criminals.
According to Crompton, Madonna got where she is because she is driven to hog the limelight. It”s down to her narcisstic ability to impose her vision of herself on the world, and those who surround her.
Besides that, she and Ritchie have been cocooned in a celebrity bubble, surrounded by people who never challenge what they say or do.
Crompton says that seeing each other’s point of view, saying sorry, backing down, isn’t in their nature.
He said that the case is similar with all those narcissistic high achievers in the City and markets who are being blamed for the financial panic, as even they can”t say sorry.
It”s a classic narcissistic trait to have a bulletproof belief in your own abilities, and to react horribly at the faintest hint of criticism, says Crompton.
It seems Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer are back together, at least that’s what their recent pictures suggest.
The Friends star and the shaven-headed playboy singer were recently snapped together leaving the Sunset Tower Hotel in Hollywood after dinner.
The couple again went out the following night, and celebrated John’s 31st birthday.
“They looked very much like a couple,” The Sun quoted an onlooker, as saying.
In August, John dumped Aniston after dating her for almost three and half months.
When it comes to being a yummy mummy, Heidi Klum is one step ahead of all celebrities.
The stunner is not only one of the world”s hottest women but also takes a hands-on approach to looking after her kids.
The supermodel turned supermom recently spent an afternoon with her children Leni, 4, Henry, 3, and Johan, 1 at the Coldwater Canyon Park in LA.
And despite being dressed in a casual grey t-shirt and a pair of short shorts, Heidi looked stunning, reports The Sun.
The model is the latest star to appear in the famous Got Milk campaign, with her poster being launched just last week.
In the ad, she is seen wearing a traditional female version of the German lederhosen and pig tails.
While celebrities are known for their wide-ranging tantrums, Victoria Beckham’s demands are limited to one thing—colour white.
The former Spice Girl had her room decorated in just white when she arrived at the ME Madrid Hotel.
“She arrived with all her team from Germany in a private jet, and her assistant asked that her suite have only white colours in it,” The New York Post quoted an insider, as saying.
The decorations in Posh’s room consisted of “white candles and white roses” particularly.
It was in Madrid that Victoria once lived with husband David Beckham.
As a pre-50th birthday philanthropic deed, Sharon Stone has donated a closet full of clothes and furniture to a charity for abused women.
The actress emptied her closet to donate her expensive clothes for women in need.
The ‘Basic Instinct’ actress also gave away a room full of unwanted furniture from her Los Angeles home.
And the actress has admitted that the big give was “exciting and freeing”.
“Coincidentally, I got a letter from (actresses) Mariska Hargitay and Hilary Swank about a charity for abused women, and here was a gigantic, refrigerator-size bag, and could I fill it with clothing,” Contactmusic quoted her as telling More magazine,
She added: “So I called them and said, ”Can you send me 20 of these?””
Jennifer Aniston gave a speech at a LA school enlightening students about water-benefits and how it’s sufficient consumption paves the way for healthy living.
The ‘Along Came Polly’ star, who’s a spokesperson for the bottled water ‘Smartwater’, enjoyed a little tête-à-tête with kids at the Cahuenga Elementary School on October 16.
“She talked about water things,” the Daily Express quoted Alvaro Cortes, the school boss, as telling People.
“She talked to the students about water nutrition and why it”s so important for all of us,” he added.
