After Canadian actress Rachelle Lefevre made accusations of unfair dismissal from the ‘Twilight’ sequel ‘Eclipse’, movie bosses have come back with a reply of their own.
Lefevre, 30, had said that she was “stunned” and “hurt deeply” to learn that producers at Summit Entertainment had decided to replace her for the third movie, Eclipse, handing her part to Bryce Dallas Howard.
The actress admitted that she had signed up to star in another movie, ‘Barney’s Version’, and the production slightly overlapped scheduled shooting on Eclipse, but she never thought she “would lose the role over a 10 day overlap”.
However, her comments have infuriated executives at Summit, who have released their own statement to clarify why they dismissed Lefevre.
The producers claim the actress waited over a month to tell them about her plans to star in Barney”s Version, and they could not change the movie schedule to allow her to leave the shoot 10 days early.
“We at Summit Entertainment are disappointed by Rachelle Lefevre’s recent comments which attempt to make her career choices the fault of the studio,” the Daily Express quoted the statement as reading.
“Her decision to discuss her version of the scheduling challenges publicly has forced the Studio to set the record straight and correct the facts.
“It was not until July 20th that Summit was first informed of Ms. Lefevre’s commitment to Barney’s Version, a commitment we have since been advised she accepted in early June.
“We feel that her choice to withhold her scheduling conflict information from us can be viewed as a lack of cooperative spirit which affected the entire production,” the statement concluded.
Hollywood actress Lindsay Lohan has rubbished reports that she owes 25,000 pounds in unpaid bills to one of the Hollywood’s most exclusive hotels.
She insists that a jilted former friend has been spreading false rumours about her.
The ‘Mean Girls’ star denies any knowledge of the outstanding debt, and sources at the exclusive resort insist that Lohan doesn”t owe the hotel anything.
A representative is holding one of Lohan”s former pals responsible for selling nonsense to the newspapers.
“Some ex-friend is making up a lot of stories and giving them to the British tabloids,” the Daily Express quoted Lohan’s spokesperson as having told GossipCop.com.
Actress Katie Holmes is tipped to play a feisty businesswoman in an upcoming ‘Sex and the City’ sequel.
The 30-year-old star is rumoured to be in negotiations to join the cast, as a rival to Kim Cattrall”s man-eating character Samantha.
“The character they want her to play is a really ballsy, high-powered company executive who tangles with Samantha,” Contactmusic quoted as a source as having told British tabloid The Sun.
The shooting is expected to get underway later this year, while the film is slated for a May 2010 release.
Barbadian singer Rihanna is said to be in shock after her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown released a public video apologising for his fight with her in February this year.
Brown, 20, who pleaded guilty to attacking the ‘Umbrella’ singer in June and was sentenced to five years supervised probation and community service, was also ordered to stay away from her.
He did not give any details about the incident on the advice of his attorney, but earlier this month he released a two-minute video on TMZ.com expressing his “deepest regret” for his actions.
But for Rihanna, the video has left her reeling, as it has led to more publicity about the fall-out.
“She’s in total shock. It was like he gave her another blow, albeit one of a different kind,” the Daily Express quoted a source as having told Britain’s Now magazine.
“All she knows is that it’s in the news again and that’s the one thing she didn’t want. She’s been trying to put it behind her and move on as fast as possible.
“They spoke earlier last week and Chris made no mention of any public statement then.
“She wishes he’d given her at least a heads-up about it. But that’s Chris, always thinking of himself first and forgetting how this would impact on her,” the source added.

Lohan, 23, is also said to have had long extensions put in during her trip to the hairdressers, reports the Sun.
The actress finally emerged from a Beverly Hills salon puffing on a cigarette, though she covered up her new hairdo with a Fedora as she headed to on-off girlfriend DJ Sam Ronson’s home.
