Bollywood actors Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor have said the theme of their upcoming film Kurbaan (sacrifice in Urdu language) is global terrorism and its effect on society.
The duo launched an online game of their film in Mumbai on Friday.
Set in the United States, ”Kurbaan” is a romantic thriller with terrorism as its milieu.
“There is no connection to whatever happened in Taj and Oberoi. This is a horrible thing that happened to our city. No one can forget the attacks in Parliament, London and New York. Global terrorism is a horrible thing that has become a part of our lives. So this film is about things like that. But it”s got nothing to do with 26/11 and I don”t think we would ever make a film to try and capitalise on something like the anniversary of something horrible,” said Saif Ali Khan the lead actor of this flick.
The film tries to illustrate the post bombing consequence on the daily lives of Muslim populace living in the US after September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center.
Kareena Kapoor uttered that her role in the film is one of the most powerful one in her acting career.
“I am playing the role of a university professor in the film. Saif and we are professors in Delhi University. We fall in love and end up marrying each other. Then we leave for America and how the girl”s life changes there, that is what the story of Kurbaan is. I think its one of my most powerful roles in my career. I really hope that people will like it,” said Kareena Kapoor.
Directed by a debutant Rensil D”Silva, Kurbaan stars Saif Ali Khan, Dia Mirza, Kiron Kher, Vivek Oberoi and Om Puri.
Salim Merchant and Sulaiman Merchant have composed the music for the songs penned by lyricist and screenplay writer Prasoon Joshi.
The film is slated for release on November 20.
Kambakkht Ishq, the Akshay-Kareena starrer is all set to hit the theatres on Friday.
And Akshay and Kareena are not leaving any stone unturned to promote the film. Kambakkht Ishq digital services were launched by the duo on Wednesday night.
Akshay revealed his stunt tips and Kareena advised women on beauty tips along with launching the Kambakkht Ishq mobile game and unique mobile voice service. They were also quizzed on the subject of love tips.
“For love tips, ask Saif, Saif will give you love tips in his film Love Aaj Kal. So spend some money and see the movie,” said Akshay.
Starting on the perfect note, Kambakkht Ishq is expected to do well. The advance booking for tickets already opened on Friday.
“It’s a good thing especially after the multiplex strike, people haven’t forgotten the address of cinema theatres. People still remember behind Amitabh Bachchan’s house there is Chandan cinema and PVR,” said Akshay.
“I think it’s a great honour, we are still going to take it easy and see what happens. I saw the film last night and I’m extremely happy and excited,” said Kareena.
In the film Agent Vinod, Kareena Kapoor also lays a spy, just like Saif Ali khan and the two will be doing several combat scenes in the film just like the sizzling fight scene between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt in Mr & Mrs Smith.
After Kareena was decided as the actress for Saif’s home production, this decision was taken. The actress always wanted to play a full-on action star and will now undergo a rigorous training to get into an athletic shape.
Expectedly, Kareena will not only have some super-slick, hand-to-hand, heart-in-the-mouth combats with Saif but also her adversaries.
Director Sriram Raghavan however, clarifies that the film is not a remake of any film.
“It’s a spy drama, which will have its roots in the films you’ve mentioned. But the only similarity to the Rajshri espionage film with Mahendra Sandhu and Rehana Sultan is the title, which the Rajshris so graciously gave us,” he said.
In the recent times, a fitness bug seems to have bitten Bollywood with males running after sculpted abs and even their female counterparts are leaving no stone unturned to attain all new avatar.
Known for her much hyped zero size figure, and her vivacious disposition, Kareena Kapoor is undoubtedly one of the fittest divas in Bollywood.
While other crew members of 3 Idiots were gasping for breath, feeling giddy and feeble, thanks to the low levels of oxygen at high altitudes during their shoot at Panagong Lake in Kashmir, Kareena is super fit, courtesy her special diet.
Famous nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar has prepared a strict diet regimen for Kareena who seems to be following it dot by dot.
“It`s tough working in extreme climactic conditions. Fortunately, I am surviving because of my yoga and diet, which I change according to the climate of the area where I shoot”, Kareena said.
In her upcoming film 3 Idiots, Kareena Kapoor carries a geeky look with weird spectacles.
The film is being produced by Rajkumar Hirani, and stars Bebo, Aamir Khan, R Madhavan and Sharman Joshi for which the shooting is currently going on in Delhi.
Reportedly, the film is based on Chetan Bhagat’s book Five Point Someone.
On Wednesday night, the unit was shooting in CP from 8 in the night till 6 in the morning. Boman Irani is also a part of the star cast. In the film, Amir plays Ryan, Kareena plays Neha, Madhavan’s character is called Hari and Alok is played by Sharman.
After being shot in Shimla, Ladakh, Bangalore and Mumbai, this might be the last schedule for the film which will be ready by the year end.
Kareena recently came to the capital city of India in order to promote her film
Initially the actress was quite chilled out and was freely chatting about everything.
Someone asked the actress whether she was related to Delhi and its people in some way.
In reply, the actress said, “Delhi is home away from home. I come here so often and spend so much time here… My sister, Karisma lives here and my darling, Samaira, my niece is here too. Toh, Dilli mein toh mera dil hai,” she said.
She also added that she has also shot at many of Delhi’s monuments for Rensil D’Silva’s film with Saif and fell in love with the beauty of the city.
Kareena Kapoor has tried her best to not let her ‘I am the diva’ demeanour slip.
But during a press conference in Delhi, the actress admitted of willing to do anything for her character. “Main script aur mere character ke liye kuch bhi karoongi”, she says. But at the same time she also refused to answer the question as to if she deliberately copied the Barbie look in her film.
She thinks, says, “I have always been like this,” and refuses to accept ‘mellowed’. She settles for ‘matured’, finally.
“I’ve matured. Apart from growing and learning things, I don’t think I have changed much,” she says.
She also thinks that this word has spilt over to her work as well.
“I think I am the only actress to have taken such risks. Quite early in my career I did Chameli, and then films like Dev and Omkara, while at the same time, I also did a Golmaal Returns, Jab We Met and now, Kambakkht Ishq. I’ve worked with Vishal (Bhardwaj), Govind (Nihalani) and at the same time Karan (Johar) and Abbas-Mastan”, she says.
