Slumdog Millionaire co-stars, Dev Patel and Freida Pinto, come up with innovative ideas to keep their love-life alive because of their long-distance relationship.
The couple has been seeing each other since filming Danny Boyle’s 2008 Oscar-winning blockbuster, which saw their characters battling to be together.
London-based Patel said maintaining a relationship with the 25-year-old actress, who lives in the city of Mumbai, means they both have to make an effort.
Were never at home, the Daily Express quoted the 21-year-old as telling Radio Times.
But we do manage to meet. We always find time for each other, he said.
And when they’re in London?
We always get a different place. Rent out a flat or something and spend time together that way, he added.
Actor Dev Patel has no plans to work with his Slumdog Millionaire co-star Freida Pinto in the future.
The British star rose to fame in director Danny Boyle”s Oscar-winning film and found love with his movie girlfriend Pinto after shooting on the 2008 picture wrapped.
However, Patel ruled out working with Pinto again because it would be ‘too awkward’ now their onscreen love has turned into a real-life romance.
“We laugh too much around each other now. It would be too awkward,” Contactmusic quoted Patel as saying.
Freida Pinto has signed the ‘Planets of the apes’ prequel ‘Rise pf the Apes’ as primatologist Caroline.
Pinto, who rose to fame from the ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, will be the leading lady of ‘Spider-Man’ hunk James Franco in the latest instalment of sci-fi series, reports the Daily Star.
Movie’s cast also include funny man John Lithgow signed to play Franco”s onscreen father, according to Variety.
The new series is the re-imagining of the original 1968 sci-fi classic and Tim Burton”s 2001 remake had Mark Wahlberg in the lead.
Freida Pinto’s publicist has dismissed reports that the star is set play the next Bond girl.
Pinto”s official spokesperson in India, Divya Tejuja, has said that the ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ star will not be playing Daniel Craig”s love interest in his third 007 installment, ‘Bond 23.’
“It is of course very flattering to even be rumoured to be part of a Bond film but she has certainly NOT been approached for the role of the next Bond girl opposite Daniel Craig as yet,” the New York Daily News quoted Tejuja as saying via email.
“Bond 23” will be released in 2011 and is set to take place in Afghanistan.
Sam Mendes, who is directing the 23rd installment of the 007 series, is looking for the next Bond babe, and as of now it”s only Freida Pinto”s name that has surfaced in the list of contenders.
The film is fast tracked for a 2011 release, reports the New York Post.
The new flick, starring Daniel Craig as the licensed-to-kill British agent, will be in 3-D.

After Woody Allen”s “You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger”, BAFTA nominated Freida Pinto has now been reportedly picked up for epic “Dawn of War”.
For this Montreal (Canada) based fantasy-action-drama film, she will reportedly play Phaedra, an oracle priestess who joins Greek mythic warrior hero Theseus (portrayed by “The Tudors” star Henry Cavill) who heads a successful war against imprisoned Titans. Studio executives of this most anticipated film full of special effects about ancient Greek epic directed by Tarsem Singh Dhandwar (The Fall) are reportedly looking into the prospect of filming it in 3D. Written by Charley Parlapanides (Everything for a Reason) and Vlas Parlapanides (Across the Sea), and edited by Robert Duffy (Ambush), it is reportedly slated for a 2011 release with production starting in April. Tarsem has been quoted as describing “Dawn of War” as: “hardcore action film done in Renaissance painting style”.
Pinto, 25, besides Allen”s film, is also working as lead in “Miral” (story of a girl raised in a Jerusalem orphanage in 1950s directed by Julian Schnabel) and is rumored to act in “American Empire” (dark comedy centered around betrayal directed by Andy Armstrong and releasing in 2011). She reportedly unsuccessfully auditioned for Bond Girl Camille Montes in “Quantum of Solace” (Marc Forster). Nicknamed “Fro” and belonging to a Mangalorean Catholic family from India, Pinto appeared on People Magazine”s “Most Beautiful People List”.
Lauding Pinto on her success in the international film arena, Indo-American statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, urged Government of India and various Indian film organizations to establish world level training academies in various aspects of Indian cinema. India was a storehouse of cinematic talent and all it needed was channelizing, encouragement, and exposure to global avenues, Zed, who is chairperson of Indo-American Leadership Confederation, added.
