Actor Charlie Sheen has been ordered to serve 30 days at a Malibu rehab under a no-jail plea bargain after the actor pleaded guilty to assaulting wife Brooke Mueller.
The deal caps a headline-grabbing saga that exploded with Sheen”s Christmas Day arrest on suspicion that he pinned wife Mueller, 32, to a bed and held a knife to her throat during an Aspen family vacation.
Sheen, who appeared in Aspen court to enter the plea, also must serve three months” probation and show proof that he”s completed 36 hours of counselling.
In exchange, prosecutors dropped felony menacing and criminal mischief charges.
The “Two and a Half Men” star will fulfill the rehab requirement at celebrity-friendly Promises, the same rehab he checked into earlier this year, his lawyer said.
“The fact that the DA”s office is allowing Charlie to do his sentence at Promises as opposed to jail is indicative of the strength of their case. This is great resolution for us,” the New York Daily News quoted attorney Yale Galanter as telling the News.
He and Mueller signed preliminary divorce paperwork earlier this year and are expected to file with the court now that the criminal case is resolved, TMZ.com reported.
American actor Charlie Sheen will lose more than half a million dollars and custody of his two kids if he divorces wife Brooke Mueller, as per divorce documents posted on website TMZ.
If the couple get divorced, Mueller will take primary custody of their twin sons, Bob and Max, 750,000 dollars and monthly child support of 50,000 dollars, according to the report.
The 44-year-old actor will get a chance to meet the children for three weekends every month, reports the New York Post.
The couple’s irritable marriage isn’t over yet, since documents say that no one has filed for a divorce yet.
But according to TMZ, the Two and a Half Men actor has already signed additional paperwork asking to dissolve the marriage.
Charlie Sheen has extended his association with hit TV show ‘Two and a Half Men’ for another two years, it has emerged.
The actor reportedly demanded around 2 million dollars an episode. Warner Bros. initially offered substantially less than half that amount, but went up considerably when the actor did not agree.
“Charlie is very happy,” TMZ quoted a source, as saying.
Meanwhile, Sheen released a statement, saying: “To put a fitting end on the two-and-one-half months of whirlwind speculation, I”m looking forward to returning to my CBS home on Monday nights.”
Charlie Sheen, who’s in rehab, has reportedly been sneaking out of the facility for trysts with a lingerie model named Angelina Tracy.
The actor has been undergoing treatment at a Malibu rehab center since Feb. 24, following his row with wife Brooke Mueller during Christmas last year.
However, the ‘Two and a Half Men’ star, who has admitted to using escorts in the past, does not seem to have changed his ways.
Sheen, wearing a hooded sweatshirt, dark sunglasses and a fake moustache, was spotted entering Tracy’s Studio City home on April 7.
He apparently left the apartment after an hour, reports In Touch magazine.
“He ran down to his car. It seemed like he wanted to leave as quickly as possible,” the New York Daily News quoted an onlooker as saying.
However, Sheen’s reps have denied the link up with Tracy.
His spokesperson said: “The woman in question is the sister of one of Sheen”s campmates and Sheen was only responding to a 12th-step call.
“Since Sheen knew he was being followed and how this would look, he wore the moustache in a tongue-in-cheek disguise gesture.”
Meanwhile, another report claims that Tracy was spotted hopping into the backseat of Sheen”s chauffeur driven Mercedes-Benz, where he “had a bouquet of flowers waiting for her.”
An eyewitness said: “Her face lit up when he handed them to her. You could see them kissing on the lips.”
Charlie Sheen has fuelled rumours that the current season of his hit comedy ‘Two and a Half Men’ may be the last.
Press commentators had been speculating that Sheen was demanding a higher salary from the show’s producers but the actor denied the rumours, reports the BBC.
“All of the numbers reported in the press are false. Claims from ”inside sources” regarding offers from the studio as well as my salary, on their best day, are without merit,” a statement released to People magazine said.
“In no way, has this been a hasty or negligent 11th hour surprise. If tonight”s show is the end for me as Charlie Harper, so be it. Another journey has begun,” the statement added.
Charlie Sheen may quit hit TV comedy show ‘Two and a Half Men’.
According to People magazine, the actor is waiting for this season’s finale to end on April 9.

He has reportedly refused to CBS, who wanted him to sign up for an eighth season.
“Charlie’s deal is only through this current season,” News.com au quoted Sheen’s representative as saying.

However, he did not check in until approximately midnight, even while media reports suggested he was already inside.
Actor Charlie Sheen”s wife Brooke Mueller is said to want a divorce from him once his court case for domestic violence is over.
According to Radar Online, even though both the couple”s reps have publicly said they want to work things out, sources who know both of them say it”s actually the exact opposite – both are miserable.
“Brooke wants out. She”s said it before and she”s saying it again right now,” News.com.au quoted a source close to the situation as saying.
“She”s worried though, because Charlie has a lot of dirt on her. Using drugs while raising children is obviously a horrible situation.
“The marriage is a nightmare. But each one is worried about ways the other one can hurt them.
“For Charlie, he”s terrified Brooke can help Colorado prosecutors send him to jail. For Brooke, she knows Charlie knows all the dirt about her drug and alcohol use,” the source said.
That mutual fear has kept them together so far, but Mueller has decided enough is enough, revealed the source.
“She can”t take it anymore,” the source said.
“Remember, the Christmas day incident that ended with Charlie”s arrest started when she told him she wanted a divorce.
“Things didn”t get magically better after that,” the source added.
